You can become an expert with each job by working a specific amount of times. Some jobs will offer promotions once you reach expert in a lower position. Some jobs will have a dress code so if you wear the appropriate outfit you will earn extra money. Having a vehicle will save you time units as you go through the city. When you buy a new automobile, it will replace whichever one you have already. You do not get to have multiple cars. In your living quarters you have the option to sleep, relax, decorate, or change clothes.

When you move into a better place, you will then be given the option to rent or buy. When you get a house, you will be given the option to upgrade.

It's better to wait to have children and marriage at the end of the game because you have to devote time in the daycare in order to pick your children up. This would conflict greatly with getting many of the other challenges completed. At a certain point in the game you will be able to start talking with people in the buildings.

You will develop friendships this way. Once this occurs, a phone option will appear, allowing you to call the people you meet and ask them to do activities. Taking vacations will give you a certain amount of days of happiness.

This means that if you take a trip that gives you five days of happiness, your happiness meter will never be depleted. Within each slice of life quests there are three wedges with different life challenges to be completed to finish that life quest.

In each wedge there are three or more tasks to complete before you can get the life challenge and move to the next wedge. You can choose to compete with a character in game for money. If you win, you get a bigger amount of money, if you lose you get nothing at all. The twelve areas of life you can choose from are: Startup, Practicality, Relationship, Academics, Athletics, Fitness, Medicine, Finance, Leisure, Popularity, Law, and Toys. A tip for winning the Knobel Prize: Wait until you have maxed out your time units, take a vacation that will keep you happy for six days, and make sure you're at 1, intelligence to make research go faster.

This way you can do one research project every day. You can only pick one item per column to purchase. This means you can buy one shirt, one pant, and one pair of shoes at once. However you can't buy two shirts at once. Items offered are couches, coffee tables, end tables, lamps, curtains, plants, rugs, small paintings, large paintings, hanging stuff, wall units, shelves, wall painting, and floors.

You can only have one of each item. Each item provides a different amount of relaxation points which benefits your happiness and sleep. This is the spa.
